7 Favorite Beaches

Guys, I have an exciting announcement to make! I have decided to launch a new weekly series called “Sunday Seven” wherein I will list seven of whatever topic I can think of every Sunday! The possibilities are endless, so I feel quite excited about it! What do you guys think? Is it a brilliant idea, or what??

(awkward silence)

Okay, moving on…

Ever since I was a little girl, the beach has always been one of my favorite places to hang out. The feel of the sand in your toes, the wind whipping through your hair, the sound of the waves, the cool refreshing water on your skin… what’s not to like?

So I decided to kick off my Seven on Sundays series by posting the seven favorite beaches I have ever been to.

(1) Boracay, Philippines

Boracay

Whenever I talk about the Philippines to the locals in Singapore, they would almost always mention this place. This beach is famous not just in the Philippines but all over the world, and for good reasons.

The beach is really beautiful, yes, but there are also a lot of activities that you can do there like water sports and there are lots of bars and restaurants and events that you can go to, especially during the Philippine summer months (April and May).

We went during the rainy season though (July) so I have no decent pictures of the beach because it was a cloudy day. Nevertheless, I still really enjoyed myself when we went island hopping and I got to go snorkeling, even though the waves ended up carrying me way too far and I had to be rescued by a small boat because I couldn’t swim back to our main boat. So embarrassing, yet so me.

(2) Puerto Galera, Philippines

Puerto-Galera

This place is called “Poor Man’s Boracay” because of its beaches’ similarity to Boracay’s but at a more affordable rate.

(3) Bohol, Philippines

Bohol beach

Panglao beach has really fine white sand and has the best corals I have ever seen in all my snorkeling days EVER. The water was so crystal clear and the corals were just teeming with life and color! I spent so much time under the sea that I ended up getting sunburned. I also loved that we got a chance to go whale watching and I saw a few of them jumping out of the ocean.

(4) Sentosa Island, Singapore

Sentosa island

I love this man-made beach in Sentosa island, Singapore, because the sand is fine, and it provides a really great view, especially come sunset time, which is my most favorite time of the day because it is the magical hour when the light changes! I love to go on picnics at that place, it’s one of my favorite happy spots in Singapore.

(5) Bintan, Indonesia

Bintan Beach

I almost didn’t go to this place, and I am really glad that my roomie Cate forced me to, LOL, because I would have missed out on one of my favorite views! Not only was the beach itself so breathtakingly beautiful, but I loved seeing these lovely rock formations too:

So surreal. It’s so near Singapore, too, just a ferry ride away, and the accommodation is not too expensive. I really should go back one of these days

(6) Bali, Indonesia

Bali

Bali became ridiculously famous thanks to the movie Eat Pray Love starring Julia Roberts. Our tour guide brought us to the beach where the movie was filmed – Padang-Padang beach. It was very beautiful! Too bad we weren’t prepared and hadn’t brought swim wear! So lame, right? Nevertheless, we really enjoyed lying down on the sand, feeling the very strong cool sea breeze, and enjoying the view of both the sea and the people.

(7) Phi Phi Islands, Thailand

Phi Phi islands

There are several beaches on the Phi Phi islands near Phuket, Thailand, and they are seriously the most gorgeous beaches I have ever seen in my entire life, my most favorite among them all. Given the chance, I would go back in a heartbeat! You may know it as the location used in filming The Beach starring Leonardo Di Caprio.

Phi Phi Islands green waters

Also worth noting are the gorgeous pellucid green waters surrounding Mosquito island, which I absolutely fell in love with. Best. Vacation. Ever. And to think I almost didn’t go because of ridiculous earthquake fears (which later proved to be majorly unfounded). Like I said in the best things I’ve ever learned: learn to say YES. Fear is temporary, regret is permanent. Always remember that.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my favorite beaches, care to share yours? Please leave your links to blogs you’ve written about beach trips, I’d love to check them out! 🙂
