It has all the following elements that I love in a Marvel movie:
* Amazing action scenes
* Suspense (it had me biting my freshly manicured nails and I had to stop myself)
* Twists (I can think of 3 major ones that had me go “whoa.”)
* Hot actors (the Cap, Chris Evans, is sooo handsome! And those shoulders, wow!)
* Humor (though this is more serious than the other Avenger movies)
* Heart
It’s the kind of movie that both men and women would like. And kids, too. There was one funny moment when the screen went dark and silent after a scene and a kid’s voice went: “Okay!” and everyone in the cinema giggled.
I once said that Captain America is the most “heroic” of all the heroes because he is very noble. This movie further cements that belief. Steve Rogers has the heart of a hero. And the face of a god. Every time the camera focused on his face, Jems and I would go, “So handsome!”
Just like in the first Captain America movie, I was in awe of all the amazing things he can do with that shield of his, which he uses not just for defense, which is what shields are for, but offense as well. I told my seat mate, “That is not a shield, but an all in one gadget – weapon, vehicle, umbrella!”
Also as always, the ending is set up for a sequel, and there are a couple of scenes after the credits, so make sure to stay for them. (We missed the second one again, dammit, Marvel.) And I’m getting quite good at spotting Stan Lee’s cameo appearances in all the Marvel movies.
I am purposely not discussing the story because I went in with zero idea on what it was going to be about, and that made the surprises more pleasant for me.
But that is the end of the spoiler-free zone.
If you’ve seen the movie and want to discuss, click after the pic.
* I had no clue who the winter soldier was, didn’t recognize his eyes and didn’t even think he was supposed to be someone important. But the moment his mask came off and the camera did its whole slow focus thing on it, I gasped and whispered to my seat mate, “Oh my God that’s his best friend, isn’t it??” right before the camera showed his face. Captain and I said, “Bucky?” together.
* Jems and I went “whoa!” when the middle aged lady leader suddenly pulled those amazing martial arts moves on Alexander Pierce. We went “whoa!” even louder when she turned out to be Black Widow in disguise.
* I was at the edge of my seat at the Nick Fury attack scene. I didn’t cry when he died because I found it hard to believe they would just kill off a major character like that, and some time during the movie, I thought, he can’t be dead, he just can’t be, but they can’t just bring him back from the dead, though, that wouldn’t be realistic, right? Ummm…. I can’t believe I so quickly forgot what happened in Thor: The Dark World. Shame on me.
What did you think of the movie? Did you like it?

Wow, good for you for figuring it out early on! I know, it's impossible to imagine SHIELD without Nick Fury!

Oh no… but if you do die, maybe you can come back as a ghostwriter!
Ok sorry, bad joke. :-/
Good luck for the A-Z challenge!

Thanks for the spoiler alert! I haven't see it yet so had to hold off from ruining it for myself and skip to the bottom to write this. I agree about Mr 'Merica – he has such an old fashioned charm to his character and i love the dynamic between all of the marvel heroes. So individually competent and unique, but each one builds up to create the perfect team also. Can't wait for all of

I had this theory that you'll find out what a girl finds attractive in a guy by who her favorite Avenger is, because they're all so different. Captain America – boy next door or nice guy, Thor – manly, Iron Man – witty, Hulk – geeky.

Haha, i agree. I love the writing behind it, but i have to say… Poor little Hawkeye! Always getting forgotten!
