Etcetera is my word of the week. My friends asked me why I keep using it. I have absolutely no idea.
Anyway, I haven’t done the whole what’s up me blog in what seems like a bajillion decades (okay, I exaggerate), so I thought I’d do it today!
My roommate Maybelle and our friend Jemma came back from a trip to London and Europe and had these pretty gifts for me, yay! Coffee, purple, Eiffel Tower, sweets (that is a tin of caramel bon-bons on the far right) – my friends know me so well! 😀
My employment pass was renewed a couple of weeks ago, and I was very worried that it wouldn’t get approved. I spent one lunch break freaking out about it to my friends, muttering, “Oh my gosh, what if it gets rejected? What do I do? I have to go back to the Philippines! I’m not ready!”
Then when I got back to my desk, I checked the website for its status and it was already approved. LOL.
I still need to get a medical exam for it, though, and though I probably don’t have HIV or tuberculosis, I’m still worried, because what if I did?!?!?!? Yeah, I know, it’s not exactly relaxing to be me.
Last Saturday I was in Forever 21 when someone tapped me on the shoulder… it was my friend Joc. Turns out she was shopping there with our friend Dred. I joined them in trying to find a dress with a hint of purple for Joc to wear to her friend’s bridal shower. While we were standing in the queue to the fitting room, who do I find walking out? Our friend Maya. So I tapped her on the shoulder. Haha what a crazy random serendipitous happenstance!
We finally found new flatmates, a couple of guys, who moved in this week. They both seem nice. They’re so respectful, always addressing me as “Miss Dee” which freaks me out a little bit because it makes me feel so old.
In relation to their moving in, Maybelle and I had to clean out the kitchen cupboards to make room for them and had to throw out so much expired food from former flatmates. There was a carton of eggs so old that my new flatmate said there must be chicks in there. I said, “Not chicks, but chickens.”
My former manager Cezar nearly gave me a heart attack when he showed up behind me and clapped me on my shoulders to bid farewell this week. He’s headed back to Canada after a couple or so years in Singapore. ♫ Someone’s always saying goodbye… ♫
Meanwhile, here are some articles worth reading:
The Truth About Heartbreak. This is one of the most beautiful articles I have ever read. I especially loved this line: “People think surviving life is all about being all hard and tough, but if you ask me, the real triumph is learning that you are resilient. That you’re more rubber than steel. That no matter how far or hard or painfully you fall, you can and will bounce back eventually.”
10 Things to Consider when Dating, According to your Dad. A checklist of traits to look out for in a mate. Okay, noted! ;P
We Didn’t Date, But You’re Still My Ex. “That guy you casually dated for a month isn’t an ex-boyfriend, but he’s an ex-something. And that something is enough to stir up feelings inside of you whenever their name inevitably appears in your social media feed.” Sigh, I can relate.
24 Things People Who Cry All The Time Know All Too Well. Yep, I definitely know all too well.
