* VERDICT *
I just had to watch this movie after it kept popping up on my feeds and I found out that Christopher Nolan made it. I had made a promise to myself that I would watch everything this guy made after I saw Inception. And that insane 9/10 rating on IMDB? Whoa. All my friends complaining that they did not understand the movie only made me want to watch it all the more. I know, I am slightly weird. I like a challenge, I suppose.
So I decided to watch it by myself on purpose, so that I could concentrate on it. There are just some movies that must be watched with utmost concentration, without a seat mate constantly badgering you to explain things, and this definitely falls under that category.
I am not gonna lie. I did not understand half almost all of the Science in the story. But that didn’t make me hate the movie, or want to fall asleep because nothing made sense. It’s probably because I have always been fascinated with sci fi; I grew up reading Isaac Asimov’s sci fi short stories. I don’t know if this had anything to do with me being able to predict some of the twists in the film.
I also liked the philosophical thoughts that the film raised, like how we humans can care deeply for our loved ones, but not for our species.
I do think the whole love speech that Anne Hathaway’s character spouts seems kind of seems cheesy though. Sorry.
Of course I did not understand everything, so it helped to read this article which thoroughly explained the story. It has spoilers, so only read it after you have seen the movie.
So yes, I did like the film, but I still prefer Inception to it, probably because the latter was more fast-paced and had more action scenes.
I don’t think this film is for everyone. Like I said, I have friends who hated it and found it boring. But if you’re into serious, thought-provoking films that inspire scores of discussions/forums, then give this a go.
Ratings: IMDB – 9/10; Rotten Tomatoes audience score – 88%

Hmmmm…I might enjoy the philosophy of it but not the scientific side if it's too complicated. I might save this one for the day after Christmas when I am BEGGING to be alone 🙂

Yes I think that's what I enjoyed in the sci fi stories as well… the philosophy side. Hahaha Christmas overload eh?
