My First Snowman
🎶 Do you wanna build a snowman? 🎶
Anna’s song to Elsa in Frozen has been running through my head every time I saw snow.
But making a snowman isn’t that simple since I don’t have a backyard, or even a balcony. I can’t just do it in some random public area either because – well have you ever heard of the term “yellow snow”? Yuck.
Luckily, my boyfriend Max had a brilliant idea – make one in my condo building’s common area; the floor with the swimming pool and barbecue area also has open balconies where snow can collect.
So on the 17th of February (which was a holiday), we headed there to check if it was feasible and yes, the snow did look thick enough for – first of all – a snow angel, which I also had never done before. So I had to get that out of the way first.
By the way, my winter outfit staples are the Aritzia super puff long jacket and Ugg Adirondack winter boots. I did some research before buying them and they were highly recommended by many, which now includes me. They really helped keep me warm and dry – well, as warm and dry as you possibly can in Canadian winter, anyway!
After I was done making a snow angel, Max helped me up and then started gathering the snow so we could pack them to make the snowman. He’s a Canadian who grew up here, so unlike me, he actually knows how to do this.
We did not make a standard sized snowman because I did not want to be out in the cold far longer than necessary. Our snowman doesn’t even look like a standard one like this – ⛄️ – and reminded me of Slimer from Ghostbusters, actually. 😅

Still, it passed for a snowman, okay? Even though it had ear plugs for its face instead of lumps of coal and a carrot. The scarf really sold it, I think.
After that, Max said it was standard Snowman-making practice to drink hot chocolate and watch The Snowman, a cartoon film that is luckily on Youtube.
I’m glad I had an SME (Subject Matter Expert) to help me with this important milestone!
