{Review} Garden Orchid Hotel
My friend Maya and I had the same dream – to stay one night in our hometown’s best hotel. We decided to fulfill that dream last night and booked a room to share with our friend Zenie.
Now we hadn’t seen Zenie since our 2011 trip to Bali, so we were psyched to meet up.
We booked the de luxe king room because it had a king size bed. It was almost twice more expensive than the cheapest room, but they had 20% discount.
This room was at the new annex building. With a fab entrance and its own lobby.
Its bathroom came with a tub, which is my most favourite thing about hotels.
It was a beautiful room, but both Zenie and I thought it was overpriced at P6,000. In Manila, that price can get you a much better room, she said.
They didn’t even have wifi in the bedrooms. And there was no service water available in the room, we had to call room service for it and when I followed up after like 15 minutes, I was told that they were busy. OMG. The receptionist got an earful from me for that comment. Are you freaking kidding me, I am paying for your overpriced room and you can’t get me my water because you’re busy??? Okay so I did not say that, exactly, but I did tell her to hurry up because I asked for it forever ago. The water soon showed up after that.
I’m sorry but I hate crappy customer service. I hate feeling shortchanged.
The room came with a free buffet breakfast. There were just 4 or so courses, but they had an omelet station and a toaster for the pan de sal, which won me over.
I also loved that there’s a view of the hotel pool from the dining area window.
Even though the service was slow the previous night, they made up for it with their warmth. One of the servers even ran after me because I left my bag on the table. Thank you, manong!

Overall, I’d say that I enjoyed my stay there but the price is a bit steep. My brother and his wife decided to book a night’s stay there too and discovered that it’s a lot cheaper on Agoda.com so follow their lead if ever you decide to stay there.
