Oscars 2015: My Favourite Moments

I finally finished watching the Oscars (I’m late because of the whole being in a different part of the world thing) so I thought I’d talk about what I thought were the best moments.

(1) The fact that Neil Patrick Harris hosted. I love the guy!

(2) The opening number, which was done in musical form, because Neil is a 4-time Tony’s host. My favourite part was about Ben and Matt.

(3) The Birdman spoof which had Neil in his tightie whities. They even got the Whiplash guy in it, too.

(4) The Everything is Awesome performance, complete with lego Oscars.

Everything was brickin’ awesome about the Lego Oscars performance — just ask @Oprah. http://t.co/NATqwXq0Ot pic.twitter.com/nshJHFBsIG

(5) Lady Gaga’s amazing tribute performance for Sound of Music. I didn’t know she could sing as well as Julie Andrews!

(5) The touching/funny speeches of J.K. Simmons, Patricia Arquette, Graham Moore, John Legend and Common, Eddie Redmayne, and Julianne Moore.

I have to say, though, that while there was a bit of fun, there were a few awkward moments as well, like that whole predictions bit at the end.

But the most awkward moment did not happen during the program, but on the red carpet… a very awkward interview of Dakota Johnson and her mother, Melanie Griffith, who said she had not seen her daughter’s movie Fifty Shades of Grey. If the actress’s own mother has not even watched it, then why should we? I knew I was right about putting that movie in my list of movies you should not watch.

Overall, I think last year’s Oscars was more entertaining. What do you think, guys?
