Yesterday was a party day for me. In the morning there was an awarding for bronze and silver awardees in the 10th floor marketplace. Though this technically wasn’t a party, they served popcorn and the yummiest ice cream for the attendees and may be considered one, food-wise.
In the afternoon we had our Christmas merienda also at the marketplace, sponsored by funds for the company-wide Christmas party. Normally such party would have been held in a first class hotel, but this year we decided to forego the lavish party for a simple Christmas merienda and donate the rest of the money to Gawad Kalinga to build more houses for the poor people in Baseco instead.
So at 3pm we were lining up for registration so that we could drop off our raffle stubs before the 3:30pm cutoff as well as collect the two boxes of Rejoice shampoo offered as gifts for those who will attend the said party.
At around 4pm the party began. Some minor prizes were raffled off before we ate buffet merienda. It was a heavy and delicious merienda, though, and for the first time I did not eat with my gang but with my fellow choir members. We sat in a line before a table facing the window so we would have a view and cracked jokes while feasting.
After filling our tummies more prizes were raffled off. Then we choir members once again sang carols for the audience to solicit money from them for Gawad Kalinga. I waited a bit after that for my name to be called as raffle prize winner. Ever since I won for Janis during pension fund night, I have always won something from raffle draws. Sure enough I did win something – soft dumbbells. Is this a sign?
After that I got ready for my next event – the P2P Christmas party. P2P Constitutes of all the employees on the 19th floor and means Purchase to Payment. There are three rows in it – AP (Accounts Payable), PAS (Purchase Administrative Service), and BBP (Business to Business Procurement).
Unna and I were going to be the emcees, so we had to get there early. Since I was also the games & decors committee-head, I had to prepare the giveaways and materials and prizes for the games before going there. It took us a long time to find a cab to take us there since it was a friday night nearing Christmas (meaning…booked cab night!).
Still we got there before most of the other people and left the santa hats, which were part of the party’s theme, to the registration committee. Then while waiting for the rest of the AP people to arrive, we posed for pictures with the PAS and BBP people.
Finally, when the majority of the guests had arrived, we started the program. Even though Unna and I were so unprepared (we had known we would be emcees only the day before), we managed to blab our way through the event. In fairness, the people enjoyed the couple of games we came up with (form-that-company-phrase and christmas charades), including the big bosses.
The newest hires, in true P&G tradition, gave a performance (song & guitar).
And everybody won a prize in the raffle draw. I myself won a big canister, which is perfect, because I needed something to hold my beauty products on my kitchen shelf.
We took a break for dinner just before raffling off the major prizes. Ron, the Thai camera buff from PAS, took pictures for the duration of the entire event.
After the P2P party was through, I joined my gang in Dencios Rockwell. I had a fresh dalandan juice while they had SMB Lites and we all shared a plate of sinugba and sisig. Past midnight, it was time to go home. After a hectic day of eating & parties, bed was a welcome companion.
