To celebrate Boss Ed’s promotion to partnership level and Feb’s passing the CISA as well as his birthday, we Laya Mananghaya pips (Boss Ed, Feb, Chu, Reylyn, Mhiles, Donna & Jade) went on an outing in Laiya beach, Batangas.
On Saturday morning we met in Mcdo Paseo and piled into Boss Ed’s car. He drove us all the way to Triple G Resort, stopping in Robinson’s Lipa so we could buy groceries and at his home in Batangas where we ate lunch and grabbed some kitchen utensils we could use for our outing.
We arrived in the resort late in the afternoon and set up and cooked dinner. Then we changed into our swimming gear and dove into the sea. Minutes later we had our dinner cooked by Boss Ed — pinakbet, chicken pork adobo, menudo (leftover lunch), hilaw na mangga with bagoong and rice.
After cleaning up we went for a walk on the beach. Then we went back to the house and played cards. Later on, Boss Ed made us all drink lambanog, the native wine of Batangas.
We ate a breakfast of hotdogs, ham, bologna, bacon, scrambled eggs, fried rice and reheated adobo. Then we swam a bit before Feb invited us to go snorkeling, saying that he’d pay for the boat.
So off we were, after coating ourselves thoroughly with sunblock (I learned from Bohol). We strapped ourselves into life vests and rode a teeny boat that brought us across the sea to a place where there were corals and plenty of fish.
We jumped into the water, put on goggles, and started exploring the underwater world. Chu had bought a disposable underwater cam, so we were able to take a few pics. I realized then the corals and fish were so much prettier in Bohol.
I also realized that seeing those fish while bobbing around the top was so bitin. Scuba diving would definitely be a fun and exciting adventure, one I’d hopefully blog about a couple of months from now.
Minutes later we were headed back to the mainland. We arranged our stuff, got back into the car, and were rattling back to the city, stopping by Boss Ed’s new not-yet-quite-finished house in a subdivision and then at a bulalo place for Feb’s birthday dinner. Happy birthday Febbie!
