For this year’s teambuilding, our company headed to Fontana Leisure Park in Clark Field, Pampanga yesterday. Doms drove us over there in his car, and we got there just in time for the morning program.
There was a work-related presentation, then the traditional new hires presentation, then some games.
After the morning program, our team practiced our dance number before having lunch. By the time I was filling up a plate at the buffet table, all my friends were telling me that they saw me practice and that I was really good. Hahaha. Really now? Well I hoped I was, because my team had put me in front.
After lunch we checked into our villa. Our villas were duplex, so we girls had one villa and the boys another. It was so huge and beautiful.
Each villa had two bedrooms with its own bathroom and king-sized bed, as well as a kitchen and living room with sofa and tv. Wow.
Gelle and I took one bedroom while the three girls had the other one. The boys each had their own bedroom. We stashed our stuff in the cabinets and watched a bit of TV before heading for the convention center for the afternoon program.
Our team’s costume consisted of white shirts with red trim (given along with the snack pack & other stuff), blue denims, silver face paint, red lipstick, and feathered masks. The girls also wore our red bandana tied around our left thighs and carried sticks with dangling red ribbons for twirling.
First they asked all the dancers to gather outside and enter as each team, or should I say krewe (in line with the mardi gras theme) was announced.
When it was our turn, we came in chanting “Go Bacchus go!” over and over. Then the contest begun. We were the 6th group to go.
Our dance began with the guys coming in carrying the god of wine Bacchus while we girls stood like statues on the side. Then they left and we girls entered. We danced simple dance steps and then, in the end, took out our twirlies and spun them around for effect before parting and waving them at the god of wine as he passed through us.
At the end of the dance everyone who had seen me dance made a good comment about it. Maybe I should consider a new career path. Hehehe.
After the dancing, the others left to play dodge ball and amazing race while the cast and crew of the night presentation gathered in a villa to practice. After practice I headed back to my villa to meet the girls before going back to the convention center for dinner and the night program.
In the convention center we had dinner, then our group was first up to present. We performed rather lousily coz we lacked practice. Oh well.
At the end of the night we packed some midnight snacks in styrofoam, then I told them to go on without me because someone needed to talk to me. When we were finished, I rode the bus. The bus driver couldn’t find my villa, so I asked him to set me down somewhere and I could just walk. I walked and walked and couldn’t find it, so I asked a passing golfcart driver if he knew where villa 3327 was. He said he’d take me there. Whew.
The gang had bought some vodka and Sprite and so we proceeded to drink those in the boys’ villa. Then we played the memory game with cards with the consequence that whoever made a mistake had to drink a shot.
Then Rich called Jerome over, and we played charades. Later on we had a truth or dare session (which ended with only one person) then sang with Yen’s Magic Sing.
In the middle of dawn when I couldn’t take it anymore, I went back to our villa with Keso and we both slept on one of the beds.
The next day they announced the winners over lunch. Our dance placed 3rd, our play 6th. Krewe of Bacchus actually placed 4th overall (out of 8 teams). We got a P10,000 prize. Not bad at all! Then we boarded the buses (Doms had to leave for Tarlac) and headed for home. Back to work, everyone!
