We had our second annual company summer sports showdown yesterday. We rode buses to Ultra, donned in different colored jersey shirts. Mine was dark blue for the Treasury-Accounts Payable-Affiliates alliance team.
The first event was the 1.5K fun run. Everyone was entitled to join this race, but due to the extreme heat and phobia after what happened the last time I ran (I got laryngitis), I decided not to participate. One of our hosts was Anthony Suntay, a popular sportscaster of no less than PBA, among others. The program was officially opened by Romi Garduce (the third Pinoy to reach the peak of Mt. Everest), who set fire to a torch and ran halfway around the oval and raced up the steps of the grandstand and light the huge torch there. After his stint, the fun run began. Pabs from the orange team finished it first, well ahead of the others.
When the fun run was finished, the other sports were held simultaneously – frisbee, football, paintball, basketball. I did not join any event, actually. I just stood on the sidelines to cheer and take pictures. My jaw dropped when I saw what an amazing frisbee player our assistant director Ichiro was. He caught frisbees so effortlessly while they sailed through the air. It was no surprise that our team was champion in this game. I also enjoyed watching football. One of our managers, Joel, was so good at tackling. He slammed full force into one of their opponents who was running fast with the football, preventing him from scoring. Pabs, the runner, also scored several touchdowns thanks to his speed. Drew, though, was very good at pulling tags from opponents who had the ball. I found that I really enjoyed watching football, which is weird for me, who normally hate to watch any sport.

Anna and I, both watching football on the sidelines, ended up having our picture taken with Anthony the sportscaster. He’s so nice, actually, he always smiles at people who come his way. In the end the orange team won overall, while our team placed second. Not bad at all!
