As if I don’t get enough Korean exposure at work (my AP market is Korea and I deal with Koreans everyday), I get my dose of Korean kilig on Monday to Thursday nights right before I sleep by watching Spring Waltz on ABS-CBN. Call me corny, but I’m a sucker for kilig moments. My favorite scene was last week, when Chris and Arianne were holding hands as Chris walked Arianne home. When they neared her house, they let go and he said, “Nakakainis. Ang bagal na nga natin maglakad, dumating parin tayo.” Then he took her hand again and pulled her for one more round around the block. ^^
Spring Waltz is your typical Koreanovela that involves four people in two love triangles. The story starts with two childhood friends that got separated due to regrettable circumstances. Yet fate somehow brings them back together so they can continue their love,of course not without a lot of conflict along the way.
Spring Waltz is actually the final installation of the season-themed “Endless Love” series which started with Autumn in My Heart. The latter was also a favorite of mine which had me in tears for most of its duration.
Aside from the kilig moments, I am also a sucker for the soundtrack. Since Chris’s character is a pianist, there are plenty of melancholy piano pieces all throughout the series. I love the piece he composed for Arianne. I also loved the other songs like the Korean version of “Lost Without Your Love,” which I actually asked my Korean contact to translate for me. The main song, “One Love” has such a lovely melody and the English lyrics has such a nice message.
