Spoilers coz it’s been, what, over 10 days? The Force Awakens has beaten Avatar’s record of highest grossing film in the US (I think, too lazy to verify) and if you haven’t seen it by now, WHY NOT?!?
I liked the prequels 2 & 3 but did not love them, unlike this one, which I loved so much that I saw it two times in the cinema (and again tomorrow) and it hyped me up so much that I watched the original trilogy on TV in the same afternoon. Then I researched it to death, the ultimate sign that I love something because I’m a nerd. 😅
I think the last time I rewatched a movie in a cinema was when the first Hunger Games came out.
Well this is so much better.
And the weird thing is I’m not even anywhere in the target audience. I’m neither male nor kid.
Some women I know don’t even like the film because there’s no romance or hot guys. Perhaps I’m the exception.
Or maybe not.
Maybe the reason why women are starting to like this sort of thing is because of the strong female lead.
Rey is no damsel in distress. She hates having her hand held and both times that Finn thought she needed rescuing, she ended up rescuing herself without his help, thank you very much.
I love that this kind of heroine is becoming the norm these days. Rey and Katniss and Hermione are the kinds of women that little girls need to look up to. Not the pathetic likes of Bella Swan or the old Disney princesses.
Moving on from feminism, I still can’t get over what Kylo Ren did to his father. I should’ve seen it coming, after all, an elder guy always gets killed by a bad guy in the first movie of each Star Wars trilogy (Qui Gon in the prequels, Obi Wan in the original), but I guess I had hope for Kylo Ren.
Speaking of Kylo Ren, the twitter parody account Emo Kylo Ren is really hilarious, as is Very Lonely Luke. 😂
Kylo Ren, what’s up with the cape? It serves no purpose. If you’re cold, stop being pretentious and put on a coat.

P.S. How adorable is BB-8? 😍
