I attended my first tram party last Saturday night. It was Mela’s birthday party and the theme was “glitz & glam.” I made sure I understood the assignment!
The meet up point was at Whitty Street Tram Depot. I realized I was at the right location when I saw the sign saying “party tram.”
It was a warm, humid night, but once the tram got going, there was a nice breeze, especially if you were at the balcony at the end.
It was a BYOB event, so there was plenty of booze to go around. I myself brought my default bottle of Riesling which I buy from Wine Rack. I love it because it has a screw cap – so no need to wrangle with a corkscrew – and costs only H$112. We also had chips and cake.
The tram party could hold a max of 30 people. We each paid H$167. I encountered a lot of new faces and also some old familiar ones from previous GGI events, including unofficial ones planned through a WhatsApp group chat. If you ever want to be part of said group chat, just shoot me an email and I’ll send you the link.
We rode the around the tram around Hong Kong island and got off at the Whitty Street stop after around 2 hours. Then we rode another tram and headed to Lan Kwai Fong, aka Hong Kong’s party central. We headed to a club called Tai Tai.
Unfortunately I felt very tired and got a headache, so I couldn’t stay long. #Signsofaging for sure! Still, I did have fun at the tram party and I’m glad I went!
