Betchie invited us for one last dinner with Yves before she flies off to Japan this afternoon, and so last night we headed to their flat bearing food that Yves would supposedly miss in Singapore. I was so frazzled from work that I didn’t know what to buy and just grabbed the first thing I saw in the mall – honey roasted chicken. Then I rode the MRT to Bugis and couldn’t find the right bus stop to get to Arlyn’s office so I just rode a cab. When we met, we both sighed that it had been an incredibly stressful day at work and the fact that it was already 9pm when we finally met for a dinner invite is definitely proof of that.
When we got to the venue, Betchie shook out a piece of manila paper and said we needed to write the words “Sayonara Yves-san” on it but everyone said they had awful handwriting. I finally said I’d do it, saying that while my handwriting is not that great, it’s not that awful either. All my slambook moments flowed through me as I decorated my letters and even wrote the cutesy JAPAN meaning on the left. Then we tried to find some Japanese characters to go along with the thing and I found “Kampai” and copied it and that was undoubtedly a huge failure. LOL. Oh well, at least it didn’t look too bad.

Yves woke up from all our noise and was pleasantly surprised to see us. We tacked the poster on the wall above all the food and posed for pictures.
Then of course, we ate! They had bought my favorite Singaporean food – hokkien mee, cereal prawns and deep fried chicken with salted egg yolk. After our main meal, they broke out dessert, also faves of mine – Ikea’s daim pie (a certain Arlyn apparently bought 17 of them recently) and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. It was my first time to try the chocolate macadamia flavor and OH MY GOD! I couldn’t help but exclaim loudly when I took my first bite. It’s officially my most favorite ice cream ever. As of this moment anyway.

We watched TFC while eating and laughed while watching Mara Clara, Imortal and Kristine. They were amazed that I still remembered the original Mara Clara so much. Oops. Then we had to leave because Arlyn and I were so sleepy already, and we bid our goodbyes one last time. Aww we will definitely miss Yves but this would be a great experience for her and we do plan to visit her in Japan so whoopdedoo!
