Part 1: Manila
I had scheduled a dinner in Dampa with my college classmates on the first night of my vacation in Manila. This was back in March 19. Coincidentally, Tyne was also on a vacation from Singapore so it was just perfect timing. I had managed to contact Ronald and Jefrey, both former housemates as well, and they were happy to meet up. Turns out Ronald is now colleagues with Sir John, our accounting professor. So he invited him along. He hadn’t aged at all, and Jefrey pointed this out. Nald said that in the office, he never introduced sir as his former teacher because his colleagues might say, “are you sure he is the teacher, not you?” Lol.
Sir John is half Japanese so I insisted that we absolutely had to pose this way |
We enjoyed the catching up conversations as well as the food – the best cheap seafood in the metro, I swear. This time we went to the Macapagal one where the food is way better than the one in MOA. We went to our usual place – Sharmila’s – and asked the waiters to do the buying for us. Usually you can go shopping for the food at the nearby market yourself and just ask them to cook it whatever way you want. We made sure not to overorder this time but had our staples – mangga ensalada, buttered shrimp and kilawing tanguige. They were out of mussels, though, so we couldn’t have baked tahong with cheese. So we had shrimp tempura instead.
Part 2: My Hometown
Tyne and I got to meet more college classmates in our hometown, the friday after we had met the others in Manila. We dropped by Tyne’s mom’s birthday dinner at their house first before heading to town to grab some coffee at Mr Bean in Catribo. Actually we ended up ordering pizza as well. They have really delicious thin crust ones. A must try! I think we ordered the New York pizza. Aside from that Tyne and I also ended up ordering green mangoes after Carl’s expecting wife ordered one for herself. We love green mangoes that much and they’re more expensive in Singapore!
Wow!!! Pizza!!! |
“You mean sour like this?” |
We love the captioned mugs! |
Jeng with her world’s greatest lover-slash-hubby |
Tyne doesn’t get why she had to get this the caption |
Lenmae with her boys |
Carl with his expecting wife |
Rona is missing her lover. We ask where he is and she says: “You didn’t tell me we could bring partners!” |
We decided to leave after a couple of hours or so at which point Lester arrived. So while everyone else went home, Tyne, Rona and I went with him to Chinito’s.
I’m glad I had a chance to see my college classmates again. It’s certainly fun to reminisce and realize how far we’ve come!
