We decided to get dressed up and celebrate Gay’s birthday at Holland Village, a popular place that I’ve heard of long ago but never been. There were plenty of restaurants but we chose Gyu-Kaku, a Japanese restaurant that served wagyu beef steak. The idea of cooking our own food has always appealed to us, in fact, for Maya’s birthday we did the same but at a shabu-shabu place, which involves soup. This time around, we did grilling. So we ordered some wagyu, sausages, seafood and foiled vegetables and cooked them at a griller at the center of our table. The service was superb and when the waitresses noticed that we had gotten tired of cooking, they offered to finish the job. We loved everything especially the wagyu, which was very tender, and the peppery pork that came with the sausages. It was kinda pricey though, but totally worth it.
After finishing off everything, we didn’t want to go home yet despite it being very late, so we transferred to this dessert place right outside – NYDC. I love their big o cheesecake, so I ordered that. Gay had boo-boo cake (chocolate fudge) while Maya had Jedi’s mudslide (ice cream cake). Everything was so delicious, it was hard to pick a favorite.
We left at past 1am. We may run out of food but we usually never run out of things to talk about, despite the fact that we’ve been friends for more than a decade and spent four years being roommates. One more thing – I’m glad these two wear dresses now. They didn’t back in the Philippines.
