Actually, “danke” means “thank you” in German and this post probably shouldn’t be titled that, but that’s the only German word I know aside from “ich liebe dich” which would have been more inappropriate, since it means “I love you.”
So. Anyway. My friend Nikki’s German friend Andre was in Singapore and she asked me to tag along because, as she put it, I apparently had good English conversational skills. Funny reason to invite someone, huh? Haha. She also asked her friend Jaja to come because she worked near the place where Andre was staying. We fetched Andre from his hotel and walked over to Makansutra Gluttons Bay where we had some Mang Kiko’s liempo, barbeque chicken wings, and some cockles.
Afterwards we headed to Clarke Quay for a round of drinks before heading back home. It was an interesting night, and I’m glad Nikki invited me. I’m jealous of Andre because he’s so well travelled, thanks to his parents who like to roam every school break. Funnily enough, his dad’s favorite destination is Asia, so they haven’t been to a lot of the European countries that we Asians are dying to get our feet on. You want what’s far away from you, I guess.
