Zenie in Singapore

The last time I saw Zenie, it was also in September and also in Singapore, but three years ago. She was back in Singapore just in time for my birthday, flying in from UK, where she has been working for some four years now.

Gay and I met her in terminal 3 and we had dinner at the foodcourt in basement 2. She was craving siopao, of all things, and there was none to be had, so she just settled for some noodles.

After dinner we had coffee at TCC before catching a cab home to Maya’s place, where she was staying. I ended up staying there too.

The next day, Zenie and I woke up really late and dragged ourselves to the Charles and Keith warehouse sale where we each bought a pair of shoes.
Then we headed to Orchard for an early dinner. I asked her what she wanted to eat and she replied: “Kilawin!” I only knew one place that had that, so it was off to GP in Lucky Plaza for us.
Luckily they also had sisig and halo-halo, two of the other foods she was craving. I can’t believe I managed to polish off an entire cup of rice. I usually can’t.

All that food gave us enough energy to wander all around Orchard for more shopping before Zenie remembered that Glee 3D was in the cinemas and we bought tickets to watch the 9pm show in Orchard Cineleisure.  Since we’re both avid gleeks, we enjoyed it so much, especially when they showed the mini warbler copying Blaine’s movements while singing “Raise Your Glass.”

Zenie was so stoked about it that she started to memorize the lyrics of the song while on the MRT.

The moment we got home, I played the Glee tunes on my phone and we danced in Maya’s room in our brand new shoes and clothes.

This, I realized, was what I missed most about being with Zenie.

The next day, Zenie and I woke up really late again and spent most of the day reading in bed and eventually falling asleep. If yesterday’s theme song was “Raise Your Glass,” this day’s was “Today I don’t feel like doing anything… I just wanna lay in my bed…”
We finally managed to pull ourselves out of the house, thanks to our complaining tummies.
Zenie wanted to eat chili crab and ride a bike as well, and what better place to do that than the park a short distance away. I can’t believe we finished an entire 1 kilogram crab by ourselves. For the second day in a row, I finished an entire cup of rice.

We worked off the calories of our very fattening meal by renting a couple of bikes.

We used to do this back in Manila, near the CCP complex. This was where Gay learned how to drive a bike, taught by Junjun.

It was more dangerous there, though, because we had to drive on the roads with all the vehicles, and you know how Manila drivers are.

Once I even accidentally found myself driving on the Macapagal Highway which has a lot of traffic, and when people found out, they were shocked, saying, what was I thinking, I could’ve died and all if I had gotten hit by a truck or something.

Anyway, back in Singapore,  we rode all over three connected parks – Bedok Reservoir, Pasir Ris, and the mangroves park. One hour wasn’t enough but it was getting dark. So we headed back to Maya’s place and… slept some more. Ahehe.

Biking is more fun in Pasir Ris Park than in Manila’s CCP complex
It’s not my bike, but I do love it.
