For the third (and probably last) time, I attended the Siloso Beach Party. I went with my hometown friends. We got the early bird promo tickets so we got $S10 discounts. We decided to book a hotel room in Siloso Beach Resort because the last time we went, we had a really hard time getting home and we didn’t want to experience that again. Since some of us had to work that day, we took a cab from the office directly to the hotel so we could avoid the queue. We hadn’t had dinner yet so we ordered in room service – Siloso Beach rice, chicken wings, and spaghetti bolognese. The rice was the most delicious!

While waiting for the others to arrive, we had this crazy idea of staging this photo based on the movie poster No Other Woman. Rodel and Monet are a real life couple and Anne does a good job being Anne Curtis. Haha!

After changing into beach gear, we walked outside, ready to hit the party. That’s when we hit a snag – turns out you can’t just walk into the beach party even though you’re already in Siloso – you have to queue outside to get your wrist ticket! Talk about major bummer. So we had to walk all the way out and join the really long queue. It was already close to midnight by then, so we were worried that we would spend the countdown stuck in the queue. :-/
There was one memorable moment while in the queue, though. Marie Ann works in retail and had to work very late so she arrived late, while we were already in the middle of the queue, and her ticket was with us. There were shoulder-high barricades to prevent people from cutting into the queue. She tried to find a gap in the barricades so she could join us, but there wasn’t any. Finally, in a fit of desperation, she climbed over the barricade and jumped into our midst. Haha. I don’t think I could have pulled that off, but she did.

Thankfully, we managed to get to the party before the countdown, with barely minutes to spare. Thanks to our connections we had free booze and food and I even managed to snag a free pair of 2013 goggles.

They even had great fireworks this year compared to the previous years.

After a couple or so hours of dancing on the sand and around a tree (supposedly for good luck, I read somewhere) and in the foam and drinking lots of yummy Somersby cider, we were all suddenly:
Signs of aging? I don’t know. But man was I tired so quickly. Luckily, someone suggested heading back to our hotel room so we did just that, at around 2 or 3am, so we could sleep. Definitely signs of aging.
The next morning we had brunch together at Tastes of Asia before heading home where I slept some more. Boy I hope I don’t sleep the rest of my year away.
