Today I am grateful for baked cheese tarts.
I’ve decided to do this thing where I would be grateful for something everyday, you know, for positivity and all that, and today it’s baked cheese tarts because I craved for one and got to buy one for dessert tonight.
I’ve been having all these weird cravings lately. Last night it was ice cream, today it’s baked cheese tarts.
“They’re both dairy,” my teammate GH noted after I voiced this out loud. “You should keep a daily dairy diary.”
We realized that Daily Dairy Diary was a catchy name for an app that mothers could use to track their baby’s daily dairy intake.
“You should totally make one and make a lot of money so you can finally put up Test Fund!” I told him as we crossed the road to Changi City Point.
Test Fund is one of our inside jokes, a story for another blog… maybe. Or maybe not.
But anyway, on to the main topic of this blog – baked cheese tarts.
Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts opened a branch at Changi City Point a few weeks ago. GH and I had joined the long queue on its opening day, at my insistence, because I had seen my friend Brian post about it on Facebook some time ago. He had bought his at an Orchard branch, I think.
This is a photo of GH, not Brian. Notice how he is calling attention to the completely wrong thing?
That’s a fake durian because one of their flavours is durian. The other two are original (cheese) and chocolate.
I tried both and loved them because I love both cheese and chocolate. Durian – not really, so I avoided that.
They had an ongoing promo that day, hence the queue. There was this Facebook post that you had to like, and then you had to freeze a gif image in said post in a perfect way and take a screenshot of it to show them so you could get a free cheese tart.
GH and I didn’t actually know about this beforehand. One of his friends had just happened to be in the queue and told him.
When both of us couldn’t get the perfect screenshot, it was also this random friend who sent his, so we could flash it to the cashier.
Later on we realized that we had been stupid to try and screencap the gif while it was playing – we should have tapped it to freeze/pause it in the perfect position first before taking the screenshot. Duh! 😅
They don’t have that promo anymore, but they still do have an ongoing one where you get a free tart if you buy five.
Each tart costs $2.90, which isn’t cheap, but I don’t mind forking over that amount every once in a while, like today.
There was no queue today, so I worry if they are getting much business, actually. CCP is not a very good mall for business, I think. I hope they don’t close down soon!

I just tried them yesterday and asked the staff. They are actually not related to the branch at Ion Orchard Bake Cheese Tarts. Hence the difference in price too $2.90 at CCP and $3.50 at Ion). Texture of cheese filling and crust differs too. Both are tasty in their own rights but I still prefer the Ion one. 😋
