Yesterday I attended an event where I got to meet my favourite famous Singapore blogger Yina Goh. I had joined an Instagram contest and got picked as one of the winners to attend a styling workshop featuring GHD’s platinum+ styler, held at The Velvet Dolls store, Yina’s clothing shop.
I got to meet not just Yina but her The Velvet Dolls model, hair stylist, and her cute dog Chewy as well. I didn’t expect Chewy to be that small! She’s about as big as a standard house cat!
GHD’s in-house stylist was on hand to teach us how to curl our hair using the GHD platinum+ styler.
In case you’re not familiar with GHD (which stands for Good Hair Day), it’s a brand famous in UK for their hair stylers. My former colleague Carly once told me about how she bought a GHD hair straightener as a teenager and it still worked great until now, over a decade later. It is that sturdy and it works very well, too.
The GHD platinum+ styler, which we used, is a smart styler that predicts your hair’s needs. Featuring breakthrough ultra-zone with predictive technology, the GHD platinum+ styler recognises each section of hair and adapts the power to ensure the optimum temperature of 185ºC is consistent across the two plates, allowing beautiful results in one stroke. Heat is monitored 250 times per second across the plates, and through its predictive technology this revolutionary styler recognises the thickness of your hair and speed at which you are styling and adjusts the power accordingly, giving you ultimate results, personalised to you.
The unique wishbone hinge ensures the plates are perfectly aligned while you style, while the rounder barrel allows you to create curls, waves and the perfect straight with ease. Each plate is precision milled, allowing hair to pass through effortlessly, for snag-free styling. Universal voltage allows you to keep styling wherever your travels may take you. Plus, automatic sleep-mode will turn off your styler after 30 minutes of non-use, for extra peace of mind.
One of these was up for grabs, but unfortunately I didn’t win the raffle draw! Too bad, I would have loved to have one for free because it costs a pretty penny.
We all had a chance to style our hair with the platinum+ styler, and I must say that it’s impressive how your hair becomes shiny after you pass it through the iron, unlike cheap hair irons I’ve tried.
After the session, we grabbed a chance to take a picture with Yina, of course!
Then we didn’t leave empty-handed because Yina sent each one of us off with goody bags which contained some bralettes and makeup. Mine came with a Benefit precisely, my brow pencil in shade 4.5 which I really love. It’s quite generous, no? Really grateful to have been invited!
