Paid another visit to the clinic to get my blood tested and same thing happened again…they couldn’t get any blood from the vein on the inside of my elbow and just a little from the back of my hand. Then I almost fainted. They had to put me in a wheelchair to bring me to a bed. What is it with me and blood anyway?
Then I told Zenie to come over so we can have lunch at Teriyaki Boy*, which she had never tried, and to meet me at Powerbooks where we can put in our reservations for Harry Potter book 7 which is coming out in July.
While waiting for Zenie I picked out a book, The Breakup Diaries by Maya Calica, and read it on the couch. I got so engrossed in the story that I ended up buying it. I could barely put the book down.
I read it while Zenie scouted for shoes in SM and read it some more while she shopped for groceries and nearly finished it in the taxi on the way home. By the time I got home I was down to the last couple of pages.
It’s not brilliant writing; I guess the reason why I liked it so much is because of its light, funny, I-can-so-relate rom-com storyline. I felt like the main character in the book, Monica, someone described to be a bit chubby and a diary-writer and someone who turns wild when she gets drunk. I could also relate to the places mentioned, places like Glorietta, for example. And it would probably be more appreciated by people who have ever been dumped.
