Yesterday, the third general assembly of the PMG (performing musicians guild, one of the original and biggest wellness circles in ) entitled “In the Raw” was held in Nobel Plaza, home of PMG.
While our group “Parokya ni Jobacs” was invited to do another performance, none of the original members was up to the challenge, so I instead volunteered my former teammate Kris and AP new hire Manny to sing onstage while Jobacs and Maxi, seasoned guitarists, played for them.
I on the other hand had a new challenge. I had gone from being vocalist to host. PMG president Mark met up with me and my co-host Errol so we could go over the program. We just had to launch a couple of “getting to know you” games that also involved me singing a few lines, plus introduce and interview the performers.
Except for the first five minutes when I froze onstage and just smiled at the crowd while I let my co-host ramble on (I get stage fright for the first few minutes each time I face a crowd), I think I managed to wing it, with thanks to Drew and Liza (who brought her hubby Rex along) for their support.
The performers were good and so were the drinks and the food. After the last official performance by XPG with their new hire lead vocalist Chams, most of the crowd left, so I left along with them, much to Drew’s amusement. “Nauna ba namang umuwi ang host!’ he chortled.
Oh well. At least I did my best!
