When I got my first paycheck, I decided to treat my Singapore family to the most raved about chocolates which happened to have a store in Suntec City – Royce.
Last time my former officemate Adette was here, she was looking for some to buy as pasalubong. Turns out she had bought the wrong thing. She bought the ordinary chocolate bars, which were nothing compared to their best sellers – Nama chocolates.
They are like truffles (or maybe they are truffles) – feather-soft, melts on your tongue, and tastes so exquisite that we savored each morsel slowly.
They’re so soft that they need to be kept cold. Upon buying a box, they give it to you inside an insulator foil-colored bag with a small pack of ice to keep the entire thing from melting before you can transport it to a refrigerator or into your mouth.
One box which costs 14sgd (almost 500 pesos) contains 20 small squares, so we each had only four apiece.
A good thing I was able to sample four squares from the store, huh.
