I don’t know if this is real or not but it’s been making the rounds in Facebook. It happened in Somerset MRT. I wonder how I would’ve reacted if I had been there myself.
If this had been real, poor girl. Must suck to find out you’ve been cheated on, and on Valentine’s Day, at that. But it’s possible that it ain’t real, as someone commented:
Lecturer:
“Ok, you class of graduating actors/actresses, for your final term project, I want you to act in public, record it, and make sure that your vid makes it to youtube; with at least 500,000 hits. Additional points would be given to those who include an environmental message in the video.”
So what do you think? Real or not real?
My own Valentine’s day was not quite as eventful, although a semi-weird thing did happen the night before.
I was walking with Chi when this messed up looking guy said something to me and made kissing motions at me.
Chi was shocked, spluttering, “who does that???” while holding her hand over her heart while I just laughed and called him a weirdo.
“Weren’t you scared?” she asked, wondering at my nonchalant reaction.
“That was nothing compared to all the other things I’ve experienced,” I explained, then proceeding to relate my worst experiences.
“But why do they do that to you?” she was puzzled. “You’re wearing jeans and a shirt while I’m the one wearing shorts, what is up with that?”
I shrugged and took a sip of my tea latte. “I wish I knew the answer to that.”
Chi surmised that it must be because I look innocent, like I wouldn’t fight back. Oh dear, I do need to start looking bitchy. For my own safety.
Anyway, the reason why Chi and I were together that night was because the night before, her husband (I still can’t get used to this word for him!) had messaged me on Facebook (he’s in the Philippines now):
Hi Master! Can I ask you a favor pls pls pls? Can you possibly help me get a valentine’s gift for chi? 🙂 I’m thinking, chocolate cake kaya na kahit small lng, basta may design na pang valentine’s? I promise to reimburse you when I visit sg 2 wks from now. Okay lang ba?
Thanks so much!
I thought it was cute and readily agreed. Years before, my friend Zenie’s boyfriend John had done the same and it’s one of my favorite valentine’s days ever. I’m happy when my friends are.
So anyway I found a heart-shaped cake at Breadtalk and told Chi to meet me so I could hand her a gift from Punch. We met at the MRT station near her place then she told me we should eat the cake together with drinks at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Paya Lebar.
So we did. We sat at a dimly lit table overlooking a fountain which would’ve been romantic if we hadn’t been both girls. Haha.
It was a nice valentine’s date that I truly enjoyed, and not just because the cake was mouth-meltingly good and paired with my favorite CBTL tea latte.

A few hours prior to that, I met my friends Jemma and Mildred at Plaza Singapura so that we could watch a rom com that I had been wanting to watch since I first heard of its existence – Just Go With It.
As usual, Adam Sandler did not disappoint, and it only helped that his leading lady is Jennifer Aniston, also a favorite actress of mine from Friends. My God, she’s what, forty? And she still has a rocking bod! I am suddenly so ashamed of myself.
After that I brought to them to one of my favorite haunts – Cafe Cartel, and suggested we split a rack of St Louis pork ribs. I also tried out their new iced butterscotch latte. All those calories were worth it, and they both agreed.

On Valentine’s day itself, I got a couple of gifts from my flatmates – a kitkat bar from Cate and a rose pen from Ervyn. How sweet! I gave them Ferrero chocolates in exchange, and also gave the same to all my friends in the office.
We were supposed to have valentine’s dinner or coffee that night but we got so bogged down with work that we decided to postpone it to the next day. We ended up at Manpuku which has such a lovely ambiance. We loved the faux cherry blossoms especially.
