Jelly shoes have been a fashion trend since last year, and the silver colored ones that kind of look like Cinderella’s glass slippers have caught my eye a lot.
Cinderella is my favorite fairy tale and I have always been fascinated by her glass slippers. When I was a child I used to slip my tiny feet into my mom’s sandals with clear straps and prance around the bedroom pretending I was Cinderella wearing glass slippers. When I grew older, I discovered the movie Ever After, which is the story of Cinderella without the magic, and it became one of my all time favorite movies.
One fine Saturday while I was out with my friends Maya and Gay, I found out that they also like these same jelly shoes and we spent a few hours searching for cheap ones on Orchard Road. No such luck. The only ones we found were in a Melissa store, but those are over S$100 and I have a strict no-buying-shoes-worth-more-than-S$50 policy.
A few days after that incident, I was browsing through an online store (I think I found myself in there by clicking through a Facebook ad) when I saw cheap versions of the shoes we were searching for. So I informed my friends and we all ordered a pair. And here they are, Cinderella’s slippers for S$17. 😀
I love them because they’re pretty and comfy too. I could dance all night in them. Now if only I can find a ball to attend, with a prince to boot. 😛
UPDATE: To those who want to know where I bought them, they’re on this site.
Bonus: read the short story I wrote about Cinderella’s Revenge.

Where online did you find them?

Aha, I'm not the only one!
David Macaulay says
well I'm a big fan of that $50 policy – don't know enough people who adhere – oh I did write a reflections post, it was a bit disjointed an unreflectiony..
Dee says
Which one is it? The one with the snail?
Rainbow Hues says

They're adorable. Have shoes, prince will follow.
Dee says
Thanks Carol! Haha that line sounds so cute! Like a catchphrase for a book or this blog!
Grammy Staffy says
Now that you have the pretty slippers I'm sure you will find your prince. My Erin found hers at almost 33 and she didn't have Cinderella slippers to help her like you do. Hugs, Grammy Lura
Dee says
Haha thanks Lura. I hope so. 😉
