So last Saturday while I was chillin’ with mah homies (yeah… I totally can’t pull that phrase off), we were watching Deal or No Deal on TFC (The Filipino Channel) which guest-starred the popular Philippine singer Bamboo when I realized… hey, this guy’s attractive! Now, I’ve seen this guy around for years, even seen him in person twice, but this was the first time I thought this! I had noticed that a lot of friends have been going gaga over him lately. What happened? Did he get more fit? Did he have something done? I have no idea.
So I thought now would be the right time to post about the time I saw him up close and personal last November, when he had a concert in Singapore. My friend Joc had been a fan of the guy eversince, so when she found out that a friend of hers was sponsoring the concert and could get her free tickets in exchange for some assistance, she volunteered and asked me to come along.
So we went, and it turned out the assistance we had to do was distribute flyers and ask the concert-goers to sign up for an ipad mini raffle. There was a really long queue outside the concert area, which was Arena in Clarke Quay. The place is very deceivingly small outside, but can fit a lot of people inside, kind of like Doctor Who’s tardis. We were really amused about the experience of handing out flyers because it was our first time. It was kinda tiring though, because there were so many people, so that the queue snaked around the place and lots of non-Filipino folks passing by kept asking me what was going on, why where there so many people?
We worked for a few hours and after everyone was inside, we went inside as well, and our spot was backstage! Well not really backstage, actually, more like sidestage? I know that’s not really a word, but there’s no other word to explain our location, which was sort of backstage but really at the side, and it afforded us a really closeup location of Bamboo as he sang all the songs. See how close we were to him? I honestly think we had the best spots in the house!
And man, would you look at that crowd! There were hundreds of people!
It was glorious, he’s a really talented singer, and I even knew some of the songs because he’s been around since my teens, and I find concerts to be totes more fun if I get to sing along, don’t you? 🙂
Joc was so happy she got to see her long time crush, and I was really glad she brought me along for the ride. 🙂

That's awesome you got on through distributing flyers, I want to try that and see if I get an awesome stage position like you did!

Yes, try it and see, maybe they offer something like this too in concerts over there! 🙂
