For the first time ever, we (my hometown friends) decided to throw a halloween party. I suggested it after Elma said we should get together more often, and to my delight, everyone agreed and was more than happy to dress up and even came up with halloween decorations and food!
Anne, our host, decorated her place with these:
Then Jean, Tin, and Wilma came up with these yucky-looking yummy treats:
I mistakenly thought that they wouldn’t want to dress up but I was so wrong because look at the costumes my friends came up with!
I volunteered to do the makeup of those who didn’t have any, so we would all look great in photos. They were all those below except Cate (the one with the black tears):
I am quite happy with how they turned out! In case you want to copy the look, it’s really simple – just white baby powder on the face (just pat it on and don’t blend), black eyeshadow all around the eyes up to the eyebrows, and dark red lipstick on and around the lips. Then DON’T smile for the camera. (Duh.)
When people asked who Brian was supposed to be, I said, the joker! And kept on calling him Heath Ledger the entire night.
And of course, I also did my own costume. Who do you think I came as?
Tada! The devil wears Prada! Am I clever, or what? (Don’t answer that.)
Actually, I’ve been wearing the same devil horns for three halloweens now, so I decided to put a little twist on it this time around.
I got questions from people asking me where I got my necklace. It’s just a printout of a logo I found on the internet which I then taped to my earrings and necklace. 😀
And here we all are!
I know. Pretty creepy, right.
Funny story: Maya’s flatmates got scared of her when they saw the pictures we uploaded on Facebook such that they dreaded her coming home looking like that! Talk about a really effective costume!
Also, I wasn’t trying to look scary in my pics but a lot of people commented that I scared them! #WHY
We ended the night with our favorite game – charades! This had a halloween twist, in that the things we had to guess were all halloween-related and the strips of paper were immersed in a can full of slimey wriggly stuff so that when we first put our hand in the can, we went, “Eww! What’s that??” It was Anne’s sister Aiko’s idea.
Our team was pretty lousy because we didn’t know horror flicks as much as the other team did, so we lost.
Nonetheless we had fun, especially while watching Elma acting possessed. For some reason she always got the movie titles with possession in it, while I got those with the word “diaries” and Tyne’s involved gesturing a downward motion. A favorite moment was when I got “Chernobyl” diaries and mimed first syllable sounds like and pointed to Cheryl, which Jean managed to guess at once.
When all the charades slips had been pulled, we turned the lights back on and gabbed and ate again before calling it a night.
I had such a happy (advanced) halloween! I hope you do too! 🎃👻
