One of the problems of Asian women is that we usually have short, straight eyelashes. So much so that falsies and eyelash extensions are common here. By some freak of nature, though, I was blessed with long lashes, so I have only one problem left to correct. Shue Uemura eyelash curler does a great job, but eyelash perming does a much better job. So much so that whenever I get one, friends stare at my eyes a lot and blurt out things like: “Your lashes look fake!” Ummm…. thanks, I think?
My first venture into eyelash perming happened in Let’s Face It in the Philippines. It’s really cheap there, only P250 (less than S$10). Here it costs thrice that much, at S$28 per session, or at least that was the price when I paid for my package in Beauty Talk Shop a year or so ago.
I forgot to take a before picture, but here is what my eyelashes look like after perming, with no mascara. This usually lasts for around a month if I maintain it with mascara daily. Not bad, right?
While I was there I decided to get a facial too, because I hadn’t had one in months. I can’t even remember when was the last time I did. I think it was June of last year while I was in the Philippines. I always get a diamond facial in Let’s Face It when I can, too, because once again, it’s a lot cheaper there, at around P1000 a session.
In case you didn’t know, diamond peels are awesome because it’s like a really intensive exfoliation session, wherein your outer layer of dead skin cells are sloughed off and your skin is renewed. I first discovered it that one time I got so sunburned in Bohol and my skin became so dark. I wanted to not be tanned anymore (Asians hate getting tan) ASAP. The lady recommended this, and sure enough, after one session, I was back to being my normal color. Amazing!
Beauty Talk Shop also offers diamond peel, which I tried before, with great results. But this time around, I got the basic facial which came with extraction, laser, and a facial and shoulder massage. What I love about their facial is that the extraction process is not as painful as in other salons. I may not have acne problems, but I do have a crap ton of white heads, so this was a welcome experience. I also loved the massages! Felt so nice. The facial costs S$68 but you can get it for 20 bucks cheaper per session if you get the package.
Overall, I am quite happy with their services. This is NOT a sponsored post.

Meanwhile in Asia, whitening products are all the rage. I should move to Sweden.

Yeah, that was my reaction when I first found out too.
