My high school classmate Katrina, who works in Hong Kong, was in Singapore for a vacation with her boyfriend and invited us for a catch up session last 16th of February. The last time we had talked was during our high school graduation, so there was A LOT of catching up to do.
Elma suggested high tea at a place called Arteastiq in Mandarin Gallery. If someone had told our teenage selves back in our small hometown that we would someday be having a reunion over high tea in a foreign country, we would probably not have believed it. Funny where life takes you.
I was the last one to arrive, so by the time I got there, the girls plus Brian (Elma’s hubby) were already seated at a table. We chattered away as the wait staff cleared away the dishes and handed us menus. Since our table was located at the farthest end of the restaurant, it was very hard to get the attention of servers.
Okay, I can’t remember what we were talking about here, LOL |
We were all intrigued by the tea with ice cream, as none of us had ever tried something like that before. So Kat and I ended up ordering the same thing – the Monet 12, which is French rose tea with vanilla gelato.
It was a lovely presentation, to be sure, but Kat wasn’t thrilled with all the ice cubes it came with which watered down the tea and made it virtually tasteless. She asked for an extra glass so she could scoop out all the ice. I should have followed her example.
Elma had some of their famous pear tea and a lava cake, while Brian had another ice cream tea dish too.
I also had some chicken wraps because I hadn’t eaten any lunch. It tasted quite good, and looked very pretty, no?
Kat’s Italian boyfriend showed up after a while, and we got to talk with him for a bit before we had to part ways. Kat said she might be back again soon, so there’s that to look forward to.

That tea looks nice but I'd probably only eat the ice cream! You attend some lovely places dee.
