The haze is back, so last Saturday, we bought some N95 masks and had this Singapore selfie.
Some background first: somewhere in Indonesia, people are burning forests for farming purposes, and their smoke produces a haze which also affects Singapore air. Last year in June it got so bad that it reached the high PSI level of 400 (healthy level is 100) and N95 masks, which are the recommended ones to keep out the smoke, went out of stock or had really high prices. It’s not yet that bad, but we weren’t taking chances.
I like this mask better than the one I had last year because it’s foldable and easy to store in a bag. We bought them from Guardian.
When I got to work a few days later, my supervisor complained that they were not in stock anymore. Maybe not in all stores but just at the one she went to?
Later that night, my roomie asked me, “Do you smell the haze?” I had actually smelled it early on but I thought it was just our flatmate smoking. Turns out it was already the haze! Sorry, flatmate! 😛
We also got this email from our HR.
But it’s not that bad during the day, actually. Or maybe it depends on the location. Where we work, you can see how clear the sky is from the picture I took of a beautiful purple blossoms on a tree beside our building. It’s so beautiful, isn’t it?
Meanwhile from where I live, you can see it a bit more.
I just hope it doesn’t get worse!
