Are You a Night Owl Too?

A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with my buddy. I said something which he didn’t understand, and he apologized for being slow.

He pretended to be offended, saying, “Excuse me, I am NOT always late, OKAY?” He then quickly admitted that he lost his conviction midway through the sentence.

“You’re right about the owl thing,” he confessed. “I just can’t function in the morning. So thank God we start at 11 am, coz I would suck at 9 am!”

“And you sleep past midnight?” I asked further.

“Yes I never sleep earlier than that. I do not know what it is like to sleep before 12.”

“I am the same!” I admitted. “Even if I’m sleepy already, I cannot get my brain to shutdown! Like last night I was already sleepy at 1 AM and lying in bed in the dark but dammit I couldn’t sleep!”

“So what time did you end up sleeping?” he asked with a laugh.

“I’m not sure! And getting out of bed in the mornings is REALLY hard!” I complained.

“I know exactly what you mean!” he chortled.

Once I thought of that name, the images wouldn’t stop. “Owlman, who has an Owlmobile,” I rattled on, unfazed. “His superpowers include being able to see in the dark and swooping down on unsuspecting bad guys, clutching them in his talons.”

“Actually not a bad super power if you think about it,” he observed.

“Yeah! And he is also VERY wise. You can ask him ANYTHING and as long as the answer has been published on 9gag, he will be able to answer.”

At that he burst out laughing. Earlier that day, we had both shamefully admitted that we don’t read the news as much as we should and often find out about them on 9gag.

“Creative juices flowing, I see!” He said, enthused. “BOOM! – Top selling comic book series. Marvel’s gonna step in, he’s gonna rival Batman. BOOM! – Picture deal.” I laughed at the thought.

“And after a few years you will come to Singapore for the movie premiere and random people in the office will be saying… hey come on let’s ditch work and go see Heidee!!! She’s the creator of OWLMAN!!”
