I am extremely grateful that I tried out Curel Sebum Care because it cured my pimple problem.
I used to be zit-proof. Well not really, but if I did get them, there would only be a maximum of 2 pimples on my face. I was that girl whose “flawless skin” was praised by strangers, friends, and their mothers. I didn’t understand what the fuss was about.
Until earlier this year when I suddenly had an acne problem. You know that saying about how you don’t know what you have until you lose it? It suddenly made sense to me. For reasons I don’t know, pimples were growing in bunches on my cheeks and I was freaking out because they wouldn’t stop coming.
I am too cheap to take a derma visit, so I self medicated by trying all sorts of pimple-killing facial products. One product was so harsh that while it dried up my pimples, it also dried up my skin, causing my neck to be scaly and itchy. It didn’t take care of the problem completely, only drying up existing pimples but not preventing new ones from growing.
Then I was given a chance to sample the Curel Sebum Care range. It’s made for sensitive oily skin which I thought wasn’t my problem (in denial much?), so I was skeptical at first. The products are odourless and lightweight, so they are very gentle on the skin. In fact they are so gentle that I doubted that something with the consistency of water would be powerful against my pimple infestation.
I was wrong. To my surprise, my pimples started clearing up in less than two weeks. The scars are still there and will probably take some time to disappear completely, but the important thing is that no new pimples are growing, and I don’t have to suffer from any discomfort caused by harsh chemicals. I’m so happy!!!
I probably should not have been surprised. Curel is not Japan’s No. 1 brand for sensitive Asian skin for no reason. Sebum Care is a new skin care range specially formulated for sensitive and oily or combination skin types.
Finding the right skincare for people with sensitive facial skin is a challenge for many, and even more so for those with oily or combination skin types. For this group of people with sensitive facial skin paired with oily or combination skin types, skin sensitivity is seen as a greater issue to be resolved as compared to the excess sebum secretion issue. However, they might not realise that disregarding the latter when choosing skincare products can potentially aggravate skin sensitivity.
If excess sebum on the skin surface is not properly removed, over time, the sebum turns into harmful substance that irritates the skin surface and even the inner layers, worsening skin sensitivity. So is there any way to tackle both issues concurrently?
Curél introduces a new skincare range specially formulated for sensitive and oily or combination skin types. The Curél Sebum Care range – comprising of a Foaming Wash, Lotion and Moisture Gel – offers the skincare essentials to properly manage both skin sensitivity and sebum secretion.
A trusted skincare brand in Japan developed from over 30 years of dermatological research and endorsed by over 4,000 dermatologists in Japan and Asia, Curél provides complete protection and frees people from sensitive skin woes with its advanced ceramide care technology.
It’s innovative because it tackles two different skin problems in one:
(1) Cause of sensitive skin: Lack of ceramide
Ceramide is THE essential ingredient in skin as it replenishes and helps retain moisture, strengthening the skin’s resilience as a natural barrier against external irritants. The lack of ceramide weakens this natural barrier, causing skin to be more susceptible to irritants.
Understanding the importance of ceramide in skin, Curél has made ceramide the key ingredient for all its products. Its hydrating and penetrating moisture-retaining ceramide care is widely recognised by dermatologists in Japan and Asia.
Apart from effectively restoring ceramide function in skin, Curél Sebum Care range also protects the skin’s natural ceramide while cleansing, effectively replenishes ceramide and retains moisture.
When skin stays supple and fully moisturised, it is better protected against external irritants.
(2) Cause of oily skin: Excess sebum secretion
Diet and changes in hormone levels can lead to excess sebum secretion. Not only does this result in an unwanted oily shine on the face, excess sebum on skin that is not thoroughly removed can be damaging to the skin as well.
Using one of the main ingredients found in royal jelly (10-hydroxydecanoic acid) that is known for its inhibitory effect on excess sebum secretion, Curél developed its unique sebum zero-in control technology, which targets and regulates sebum excretion from deep within the skin to control the root of the problem.
Curél Sebum Care range is also specially formulated to re-balance skin at its optimal pH level, preventing sebum from disintegration.
Infused with antiphlogistic, an active ingredient that relieves inflammation, the range helps prevent the occurrence of acne as well.
Curel Sebum Care range is available at selected Guardian and Watson’s stores. For more information, please visit http://web.kao.com/sg/curel/ or https://www.facebook.com/Curel.SG.
