I hate lying, cheating pond scum scammers.
Okay, let’s backtrack a little bit. I was going through my credit card bill this evening when I noticed that I had a charge for $88 from Streetdeal. I wondered about it, since I haven’t bought anything from Streetdeal in ages.
After a bit of research, I found out that a lot of people had already fallen victim to this same issue. Turns out that when you sign up with Streetdeal, they ask you to become a premium member and don’t realize that it entails an $88 quarterly fee. You can read what others have to say about it here.
I seriously don’t remember seeing that before. Why on earth would I sign up for something like that and then never take advantage of it?!?
The sad thing is that I don’t always check my credit card statements, so I may have missed out on who knows how many charges. Ugh. I will just console myself that it amounts to less than $1 per day, so I won’t feel bad about it anymore.
It’s just scary what online stores can do once they have your credit card details. That’s why I prefer using Paypal, because you can always manage your recurring transactions from their site and know if something is amiss.
After this scary episode, I promised myself, NEVER AGAIN! So tonight I asked the bank to block my credit card. From now on I’ll only be using paypal for online transactions.
Also from now on, I will be checking all my statements religiously.

Over here in the States, the bookstores run a scam with the magazine companies. When you check out, they ask if you'd like a "Free" three month subscription to a magazine. If you say "yes", you get the magazine, as promised, but you also have to go in and cancel the subscription at the end of the free months or they roll you over into a year subscription and charge you

Ugh, apparently a lot of websites/businesses are unethical and would do anything to get money!
