Whenever I’m in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and pass by this place, I always get tempted to check it out because it looks so tastefully elegant.
And the rows of pretty cupcakes displayed on their counters seem like such a delight.
But I have always held off because of the high price tag. Each cupcake costs S$6 which is pretty steep, I think. I mean my favourite cupcake cost almost half that.
But finally, I had a chance to try their goods a couple weekends ago.
From left to right:
Haute – vanilla cake with lemon curd topped with chantilly cream
Red Velvet – light tinge of chocolate vanilla cake with rum raisin and cream cheese topping
Casanova – chocolate hazelnut feuillitine and chocolate ganache
Our collective verdict? Everything was too sweet, and the cakes themselves a bit dry. Definitely not worth the 6 bucks.
As for our drinks, Armar and Arlyn thought their hot chocolate and hazelnut latte were too sweet, too. I thought my mocha was just fine. Tasted just like a typical mocha, though a tad pricier at 8 bucks.
I honestly think the price is not worth it for the taste of the food. But then again, what do I know, I’m not high society, just barely middle class. But I’d rather spend my hard-earned dollars on food that tastes good and don’t just look it.

Oh my, i need some of those cupcakes in my life – especially the red velvet ones… They look so delicious. And what i really like about these baked goods, is that they always remind me of a tea party at Alice in Wonderland. 😉 Don't you find?

xo,

Luchessa @ http://luchessa.org/
