Every year, my hometown friends have a Christmas party. This year, we decided to go really simple with the theme: pajama party.
I realised that pajama party was way too simple, though, so I’m jazzing up our pic with Christmas hats. 😛
The party was held at Jeff’s place. It was his first Christmas party with us. As usual we brought potluck food. Gay and Leo helped me pick up 6 boxes of pizza from Domino’s using all the vouchers I had left from winning a competition at a bloggers’ event some weeks ago.
As usual we had our exchange gifts or secret santa. We sang “I love my manita, yes I do” as each person went around with his/her gift before finally handing it to the person he/she picked after the song ended.
There was a funny moment when it was Wilma’s turn and she pretended to give her gift to Jeff, who excitedly received it with outstretched hands, only for her to give it to me. Jeff was so sad. But then it was my turn, and when I handed him my gift, he had trust issues already, saying, “For me, really? Serious?” And it really was for him! That explains why we’re all dying of laughter in the pic below.
We then excitedly opened our gifts, including ones we had received from the rest. I really loved the Zoeva stippling brush that Wilma gave me! (But then again I was the one who picked it and put it on my wish list LOL.) I also loved the other gifts I received, especially the silver battery pack from Brian and Elma. 🙂
Then Brian broke out a bottle of Moscato wine and plastic wine glasses, and of course we just had to take my now-famous shot-from-the-top-monopod-pose (patent pending):
And then, as usual, this Christmas party was not merely a Christmas party but a slash something else as well… this time it was a surprise baby shower too, for Carlo and Kris!
Cate and I divided the people into two groups, one for Carlo (Team Papa Don’t Preach) and the other for Kris (Team Mamma Mia). We then had them play charades, to guess the titles of either songs with the word “baby” in it or nursery rhymes.
Team Mamma Mia won, so Cate gave the “prizes” to Kris. The prizes were actually our baby gifts for them LOL.
After that we just decided to eat again while watching a movie on Jeff’s smart TV. We argued about which movie to watch until for some weird reason we ended up watching the tagalog movie Diary ng Panget (Diary of the Ugly One). It was surprisingly very funny and we kept laughing sporadically, our eyes glued to the screen. The movie was a light rom com which was a tad too cheesy and unbelievable, but which could be forgiven for the humour and how hot the male lead (some new guy named James Reit) was haha!
It had English subtitles, and sometimes that contributed to making it funny because of some of the super literal translations, like “ayusin mo sarili mo” was translated as “fix yourself.” Filipinos can relate. 😛
Anne and Mark face timed too, so they were able to join in as well all the way from Australia! 😀
As usual, I really enjoyed celebrating the holidays with my second family here in Singapore. ^__^
We’ve been having these parties since 2009, can you believe it? Here are accounts of parties of Christmases past:
2009 – Santa Hats
2010 – Red + Green + Santa Hats
2011 – Red + Green + Santa Hats again
2012 – White Christmas
2013 – Great Gatsby
