Every first Saturday night of the month, Orchard road is closed off for vehicles so that pedestrians can walk on it. So we decided to go there over the weekend and enjoy the Christmas festivities.
Look, the Merlion is here! |
They even had performers on a stage |
There were guys walking around with signs on their back saying: “Orchard road is ours tonight.” They offered free polaroid prints which you could get if you posted an instagram pic with the hashtags #yoursingapore and #pedestriannight. We did that, but the quality of the polaroid picture we received was not that good. Oh well.
My favourite part was in Ion. I don’t know if it had anything to do with peppermint candy being my favourite Christmas food.
Armar riding Rudolph (I made him) |
They also have this giant Christmas tree. They have this every year.
It’s so huge that you can even walk inside it and see these ornaments hanging from within.
We tried taking a selfie from below, but it turned out awful. I wouldn’t recommend it.
I recommend taking a picture from outside instead.
And yes, this is a selfie. I used my newly bought monopod. I had to emergency-buy another from a street market stall in Scape because I couldn’t find my old one! Luckily they’re so cheap these days. I got it for 6 bucks, when my original one was almost 30 bucks two years ago.
Then we finally got tired and decided to end the night with peppermint chocolate and a slice of yule log.
You can still have pictures with Orchard’s Christmas decorations, just not on the road itself, though. They should probably be up for the whole of December.
