I met up with a few college friends for reunion dinner in our hometown. We originally made reservations at a new restaurant called The Fat Monk.
Then we thought it was too far and cancelled it, then decided to go to Village, then Cafe Zambo, then Daniel’s Hotel, where they had a karaoke room. But when we drove there, they were fully booked, so we ended up at The Fat Monk, which was our first choice. Lol.
The Fat Monk was also full but luckily a table was just vacated when we arrived. They led us to a table upstairs.
I loved their vibrant orange upholstery.
We perused the menu and decided to order for sharing.
We ordered a platter each of their best selling rice.
We chose a couple of appetisers, or rather, I did. These are both my favorites!
The girls wanted veggies, and we couldn’t decide on just one so we ordered two of their bestsellers.
Then we wanted to “eat healthy” so we ordered fish for our main course.
It was already 8:30 pm when we arrived so we were all quite famished and devoured the food quickly once they were served.
By the time Lester arrived, we were almost done. He did not want to order anymore because it might take time but we assured him that we were still hungry and were in fact still waiting for the pineapple fried rice to be served so he could still order. So he did just that, and got some satay and shrimp rolls.
All the food was delicious and well presented. Good plating is not common in restaurants in my hometown, so this was a pleasant surprise. The pineapple fried rice was my preferred rice, and the mussels and fried fish were everyone’s favorite.
I loved the mango shake I ordered too.
The place had a good ambiance for conversations, and we had a lot of fun catching up and laughing over Lester’s recount of his proposal which had a lot of bloopers. We had so much fun in fact that we didn’t realize we were the only ones left in the restaurant. Oops.
I would highly recommend the place.

Is the restaurant in Singapore? The Philippines? Either way, the food looks delicious. Merry Christmas!
