Ever since I first laid my eyes and hands on Uniqlo’s dreamy Ultra Light down jacket, I wanted to buy one of my own.
But I just could not justify spending 99 bucks on something I had no use for in tropical Singapore.
Luckily, my friends Kes and Drew decided to plan a trip to Europe this year, and one of the countries on our itinerary is Switzerland, where there will be snow. When I found out, I knew I had found my perfect excuse to buy it!
So when Kes was here, I brought her over to Uniqlo to show it to her. I cooed over how soft the material was, and she was amazed at how light it was yet it keeps you warm.
It’s so compact that you can even fold the entire thing into its own small pouch, like so.
It’s the perfect jacket to bring on our trip because we need a warm jacket yet cannot bring one that’s too heavy or bulky, because the tour we booked only allows us to bring 20kg of luggage.
So I said I’d watch out for when it would go on sale so I could buy them for us.
Then a few weeks ago, I randomly visited the Uniqlo website and saw that the jacket was on sale. OMG!!! Panic mode on! This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill!!!
The one for men was almost half off at $50, while the one for women was at $80. Wow, $30 is a huge difference. That got me thinking. Did I really need to get the one for women? Was there really such a big difference? I’m a big girl, so I need the XL for women anyway, which is around the same size as the S for men.
In the end I ordered the men’s one, for practical purposes. Kes got the women’s one because she’s a small girl.
They arrived a few days later.
And you know what? Except for size, obviously, they really don’t look all that different!
Ha. So I guess that article I once read about how you can save a lot of money by buying the same thing in the men’s department was so right.
So excited to actually use it!
