Last month I celebrated my 5 years anniversary in my company. Nowadays that’s considered a great feat, isn’t it?
My team surprised me in our former SVP Vivek’s office. I was called in for a pretend issue and when I walked in the door, he popped a balloon in my face and everyone else yelled their congratulations.
I love the above picture, but I also love the series of pictures that were snapped when they tried to do a balloon toss picture. 😂
Aren’t they sweet and cute? (Birds of the same feather flock together? 😝)
I was touched at what my team did, but also touched that Vivek reached out to my friend Dred to ask for info about me and then touched that Dred did a great write-up on me which Vivek then emailed to the whole office even though he’s technically not my boss anymore.
Dred actually focused about my being a blogger so now everyone knows that I blog. 😅
Here’s what she wrote about me:
Chronicler
Dee is a blogger and is pretty much famous in her blogger world. She is frequently invited to blogging events and recently she has been winning awards from blogging contests. She also writes up about stuff and products and gets paid for it. (*coughs* commercial endorser in the making here…)
But I say, she’s a chronicler because we actually refer to her blogs to check almost forgotten past events for us to remember details and dates, etc. Just like visiting a memory palace.
Inspiring
Dee has so much word of wisdom that she carries in her pocket and pulls right when the situation calls for it. She inspires her circle of friends and even the blogger world. She even got an Oscar for it!
Thoughtful
It’s amazing how Dee maintains quite a few set of friends and still finds time for everyone. She is also one, who now and then surprises with little things.
Cheerful
Some random guy once jokingly said she’s the most popular person in Citco. Well maybe that’s true. Who doesn’t notice a LOUD… I mean cheerful person, right?
Obsessive
Dee can be very obsessed about things, characters, no obsession history on people yet (phew!). She’s a big fan of Sherlock Holmes character— the brilliant detective in a funny hat (say it in Brit accent like in the movies). She wishes to be called Heidee Holmes in the near future. LOL! Winks!
@}>;—
Aww, what a beautiful tribute! Thanks Dred! 😭😭😭
Then today I got my five years service gift from the company – an ipod Nano with 64gb! I know I already have other gadgets, but I love that this has so much storage capacity, so I can save a lot of music and videos and pictures in it!
It looks like a thinner iPhone! So pretty and sleek! It also has everything an iPhone has except the phone.
My former supervisor Camille and I got them together in our MD’s office. We were supposed to get them with the others in our batch last month, but we were not in Singapore, so our MD scheduled time to personally hand them to us. Isn’t he nice? He didn’t just hand it to us, too, he actually talked to us, asked us about our backgrounds, and held a long conversation which I really enjoyed. I even got him to agree to perform in our yearend party. 😄
To be honest, I didn’t think I’d last this long (#justmillennialthings) but I’m actually in a good place right now, and so’s Camille, because she’s switching roles too.
We’ll see if we last another five years. 😁
