I had a fantastic night on the first week of August. My team was invited to dinner with the big bosses, including our CFO who is based in London. The guy is so nice and down to earth, you would never have guessed he was a CFO! My boss said when she first met him last February, she thought he was just a “finance guy” and didn’t know he was the CFO. 😂
We had dinner at Jim Thompson, a fancy Thai restaurant in Dempsey Hill. There were just a few of us, around 20 or so.
When we arrived, we parked ourselves at the garden area first, and had some wine.
Later on when the whole party was available, we transferred indoors.
I was seated in front of the CFO so I was too shy to take photos of the food like I usually would.
This is a sneakily taken photo of the black pepper sea bass. 😅
The food was really delicious but I ate just a little coz I’m supposed to be dieting. Everyone was complaining about how full they were afterwards except me.
This are photos I took when I went for a bathroom break. The place looks really gorgeous! I’m sorry my iPhone doesn’t do it justice.
Back at the dinner table, there came a moment when they asked me to sing. I would have said no but everyone was looking expectantly, so I obliged. This is what happens when you’re the only Filipino in a big group. 😅
Then dinner ended and we went for drinks at Lantern Rooftop Bar.
I gasped the moment the lift doors opened. What a gorgeous view!
The moon was right over Marina Bay Sands.
Everyone was standing around the bar for some reason, but some of us decided to sit down on a couch to talk while sipping our mojito royales.
After a while, the CFO suddenly approached us and jokingly said, “Please don’t steal JC from finance!” JC is working for both finance and our group, you see. We joked that he was starting to like us more.
Then after that we talked about non serious stuff.
He mentioned that he had just gotten a kitten for his two little boys, and I said, “Well I just hope they don’t do what my younger brother did. When he was two, he rode our cat like a motorcycle and ended up killing the cat.” 😰
I also asked him about when it’s best to go to London and when he said July, I told my boss, “Can I take a leave on July next year?” to which she said, “Since you’re giving me a year’s notice, no problem!” to which I replied, “The CFO is a witness to this, so no backsies.” 😆
I even jokingly asked him if I could move to London and he said, “I’ll take you outside in December, when it’s raining, and if you still wanna move after that, then you can come.” 😂
Apparently London weather is crappy.
But he says that despite that, London is great coz there’s always a lot to do there.
The night ended with us trying to convince him to try durian. But it was probably too late to find any at that point so we went home coz the bar was closing and we had no choice but to leave.
Last time I was out with our team’s big bosses, the bar actually closed and told us we could stay on but to please lock up when we leave. 😅

English weather isn’t great, we’re renowned for terrible weather and for always moaning about it – but there is always lots to do in London (mainly eat ALL the food!) xo

The weather is definitely not putting me off going to London to see the sights, meet the nice people with nice accents and yes, eating ALL the food!
