A few months ago, my British blogger friend Amy told me that MEATliquor, one of London’s most popular burger joints, was opening a branch in Singapore and I should go check it out.
Now I’m not really a huge fan of burgers, so I only got around to doing that last week when I realized that my entertainer app had a 1-for-1 deal on mains which expired in September. I told my friends Armar and Arlyn that I planned to go there for late lunch, and they said they wanted to join me. After we had ironed out plans to meet there at around 2pm, I discovered that they only opened at 5pm. ๐
So we rescheduled to 5pm, and to kill time I watched The Intern in the cinema. Yes, by myself. Don’t judge me! It was a nice light heartwarming movie.
After that I rode the MRT to Outram Park and met my friends there. We walked a bit of a distance to Duxton Road. I thought the place looked really cute.
We arrived at around 5pm, but MEATliquor was still being prepared for opening, so I took the opportunity to take some pictures. I really love its simple yet striking facade!
I had my friends pose on the tables arranged to face the street so you could go people-watching. I thought this was nice because this is common in Europe, but definitely not in Asia.
And sure enough, while they were sitting there, a woman did walk past.
Perfect timing! ๐
Then it finally opened, and we were able to go inside and see the inside which looked like an artsy hipster bar.
Sooo cool!
MEATliquor is known for American style burgers, chicken wings and cocktails. It was way too early for liquor plus we’re not really drinkers, so we just went for the meat.
The burgers tasted good, but I must warn you that they are extremely greasy, especially the beef one.I was extremely disappointed with the fried pickles. I love pickles and I was excited to try it, but it tasted blah. Totally not worth $9.
I think the best selling point of MEATliquor is probably its vibe and look. I hear that they play really loud music at night, so the place becomes more lively then. It would probably be more fun to go on a Friday night, not just for the meat but the liquor as well. So if you don’t have plans for tonight yet, you could definitely check this place out.
P.S. I just realized that I have no picture in this post, so here is one of me posting in front of a London phone booth replica, taken on the same day but at another place while I was killing time before dinner. It’s related because of London, get it? ๐
