Che, who I first knew as Indieberries but who is now also known as Indieyogalife, organized a gift swap called Yogi Secret Santa.
It was unlike other international gift swaps I had ever done before. Most of those usually reveal both gifter and giftee (I know, these sound wrong but you know what I mean, right?) to each other so they can get to know each other a little bit before sending their gifts to each other, which is usually just an exchange between the same two people.But this one was different. Since it was a Secret Santa ๐ , it meant that gifters were assigned with giftees but the giftees didn’t know who they were. So how would the gifters know what to give? By stalking them on instagram when they answer the questions that Che asked all participants to answer, which are:
- Introduce Yourself. Post a selfie (or any pic) with your name and either: a hobby you have, your favourite way to spend a weekend, or what you usually do to occupy your time.
- Make two lists. The first is “five things I love” and the second “five things I don’t love.” {My answer}
- Describe the most thoughtful gift you’ve ever received. {My answer}
- It’s a Saturday afternoon, you have no plans and are just ambling around the park/mall/house, you put your hand in your pocket and suddenly find a rolled up ยฃ10 note… What do you do with it? {My answer}
- You have to make an emergency evacuation from your house and on your way out, you can grab anything that you can fit in one hand. What objects would you grab? {My answer}
Brilliant questions in order to know what to give someone, right? ๐
It led me to getting a scarf, a Snoopy coaster, and a Singapore keychain with the peace symbol on it for my giftee since I discovered she loves scarves, colourful things, Snoopy, coffee, and yoga (hence the peace symbol, get it? ๐).
I sent off my gifts to Turkey and I don’t know if my giftee has received it yet. Probably not, since I shipped it a few days late. ๐ณ
Update: She had received it and posted about it on Instagram here. She says she loves them all, especially the Snoopy coaster. Yay! ๐
But this week, I received mine from my Secret Santa, and she totally nailed it! I loved the beautiful purple scarf, colourful pocket planner, and the cute box of Christmas cheer. ๐ ๐๐
Here’s a closer look at what’s inside the box. Isn’t it cute? ๐
I also really loved that she wrote me a long letter introducing herself (she’s in Australia), how she came to know Che, and why she chose her gifts for me. I love letters! I should have written one too! I did write a note on a postcard, though.
Thank you so much, Kath (@muzzarox) for the beautiful gifts! And thank you Che for organising this fabulous gift exchange! ๐๐
