Last April 2, I attended Sample Store’s first ever Beauty Show held at Carnivore Brazilian Churrascaria at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
While waiting for the show to start, they served us a delicious plateful of meat, greens, and fruits.
After the show, I had a chance to walk around and check out some of the Taiwanese beauty products being sold on Beauty-Keeper, a website which specially collects the most popular items from Taiwan and offers them on their website. Their goal is to find merchandise that are highly rated by Taiwanese and introduce them to South East Asia.
While walking around, I got to know two fellow bloggers, Shi Hui (ireviewuread) and Debbie (misswindyy) and had an interesting conversation with them. We eventually had to sit down when the show began.
The show was hosted by Hossan Leong, a notable Singaporean stage and screen actor, television host, radio deejay and comedian. He’s really hilarious!
The special guests were the grand finalists of SING!China Season 2 Singapore Selections. They all went up on stage. Then Candy Tiong did a skincare and makeup demo on three of them onstage.
The first one was Aaron Fan. Candy cleansed his face with the Destino advanced repairing face soap, explaining that this soap is known as “tai tai soap” in Taiwan because tai tais (a Chinese term for wealthy wives who do not work) love to use it.
She then demonstrated how to use the Userism Perfect Moment Bright Whitening Ultra-Water Facial Mask on his face. This was pretty useful for me later on, because it turns out I had one of these in my goodie bag and would know what to do. I’ll get back to his later.
The mask needed to be on Aaron’s face for 20 minutes, so while waiting, Hossan started a little game. He picked two men and a lady from the audience to get their hands washed with the Destino soap, then Aaron, with his eyes closed, would feel the hands of all three individually and try to guess which one was the lady’s.
Guess who got picked to be the lady in the game? Me! You can watch that part below. I got the video from Shi Hui later. Isn’t it fun to have blogger friends? Thanks so much, Shi Hui! 😊
I was also asked to give commentary about Destino, and I stated what I had observed – that my washed hand looked brighter than my unwashed hand, and it felt smooth, too.
Before we got off the stage, we were each given $20 Capita vouchers for our participation, so yay! 😄 Later on, some lucky audience members got the same from under their chairs. So cool, right? Just like being in Oprah or Ellen.
Candy also did some makeup demo on Mio Sato and Jolin Wong Kah Wei individually, using more Beauty-Keeper products like Userism DD cream, Serlando rosy pink moisture dew, and Starsuki makeup and brushes.
This was my first time to hear about DD cream. There’s BB and CC but what on earth is DD, you ask? DD stands for Daily Defense. It is moisturizing and ultra-long-lasting makeup with physical sunscreen and oil control. I haven’t tried it myself but it sounds promising.
Then there was a raffle draw which everyone was a part of. The top prizes were roundtrip airfare tickets for Bangkok and Taiwan which I wished I’d win, but I used up all my luck on the Capita vouchers so the top prize went to this guy instead. Lucky him!
But we didn’t go home empty-handed. All the contestants and bloggers got to bring home some goodie bags.
Not everyone got the same stuff inside their bag, I hear, but here’s what was in mine: Userism bright whitening ultra-water facial mask and bright whitening efficiency essence, Serlando rosy pink moisture dew, a special edition Sing!China stamp set, an envelope notebook, and a pouch in my fave colour – purple. ☺️
Overall, I really enjoyed the Sample Store Beauty Show and I’m so grateful to Sample Store and Beauty-Keeper for inviting me. 😊
