My friend Arlyn and her French beaux Seb had a civil wedding held in a JW Marriott Hotel suite on January 6.
I was one of the official witnesses who had to sign on the marriage certificate.
I also helped them decorate the room and buy the topper for their cake.
The suite was pretty sweet. It’s probably the first time I’ve been in a hotel suite.
It was a simple ceremony enjoyed in the company of a few of the couple’s friends. Once the solemnizer arrived, we gathered around the bride and groom and listened to them say their personalized vows to each other and cheered when they were proclaimed man and wife.
After that, we had canapes and sweets from Paul and some champagne and cocktails. It was interesting to converse with people of different races. We had fun eating and drinking and coaxing the bride and groom into posing for all sorts of wedding-y photos.
There was also a funny incident when one of the guests burned her false eyelashes while trying to down a flaming drink called B-52. Don’t worry, she was unhurt.
Best wishes, Arlyn and Seb!
