Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink – The Best Lipstick Ever!

A few weeks ago, I was aimlessly wandering through Watsons and trying on makeup, as one does, when this section for Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink caught my eye:

At this point I had already decided to buy the popular Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit lipstick, but I thought, eh, why not give this a whirl?

So I tried the shade lover.

I was amazed that unlike the catsuit, it didn’t feel very drying on my lips, and also that after it dried down, it hardly left any smudge or kiss marks when I wiped my mouth with tissue or tried kissing the back of my hand.

I was so impressed that I dumped the catsuit and bought the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink right then and there.

I used it the very next day and was amazed when it lasted the whole day without reapplication. Like seriously, how is this even possible?!?

The pictures above are of me 11 hours apart – no retouching, with me wiping my mouth after oily meals with soda/cider. There’s a bit of fading in the center, but aside from that it’s mostly still intact! Isn’t that amazing?

I’ve tried a bunch of liquid lipsticks – Kylie lip kit, Colourpop ultra matte and ultra satin, Revlon ultra hd matte finish, Max Factor lipfinity, Bourjois rouge edition velvet matte finish, Smashbox be legendary liquid pigment, Peripera ink velvet, Loreal infallible pro matte liquid lipstick – and none of them compares with the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink in both staying power and comfort.

I’m not the only one impressed. I told my friends to try it too and when they did, they had the same reaction as me.

Okay so the conversations are in Tagalog – oops. To translate, they were pretty much blown away that Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink remained intact even after they had eaten a lot of things that they now want to hoard all the colors. Unfortunately, we only like Lover and Pioneer (red) so far, so I wish Maybelline would come up with more colors!

These friends are based in Manila, London, Singapore, and Toronto, so the product is available in a lot of countries except Australia, it seems, because my friend Gelle had searched through a bunch of drugstores in Sydney and couldn’t find them, much to her disappointment. I’m sure it’ll eventually make its way there, though!

The price is S$17.90 in Singapore, but apparently it’s just P299 in Manila. Not sure if that’s just an introductory price. Even so, the Singapore price is not too bad!
