I had New Year’s Eve dinner at Ice Edge Cafe & Bar (Downtown East) with my friends Brian and Elma and their cute son Bryce.
We ordered their new year special and a few other things. We loved their steak, which is their specialty.
Just before midnight, we headed to my friends’ room in D’Resort and turned on the television to watch the countdown.
It was raining very hard that night, and we wondered how that would affect the fireworks and the poor people who were outside waiting for them.
At midnight, we encouraged Bryce to participate in a Filipino new year tradition of jumping up and down in order to grow taller during the year. We all jumped, too, and someone had a funny incident.
Shortly after that, I kissed everyone goodbye and took an Uber into the crazy rain, even though I was welcome to stay in the resort with them.
The streets were so flooded that at one point, a huge sheet of water splashed and covered the whole car.
But in Chinese culture, water is supposed to be a sign of prosperity.
That – coupled with this year’s pantone color being my fave color – gives me hope that this will be a great year for me. 😉
Happy new year, folks!
