Sometimes there comes a point when you just fed up with your long hair and decide to take a trip to the salon to lop its irritatingly dry ends off. That moment came for me yesterday.
But what kind of short haircut did I want? This was the next question. Pixi cut? Fob with red ends?
I’ve actually done those before and have decided that I shouldn’t do them again. 😅
I did know what I wanted to try, though, something that came to me while I was binge-watching the first two seasons of Friends, which is finally available in Netflix Singapore. Yep, you got it, the most famous hairstyle of the nineties – The Rachel, as popularized by Jennifer Aniston in her role as Rachel Green.
It is such an iconic nineties thing that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, the first movie of which is apparently set in the nineties, is sporting that haircut in the first photos floating around the internet this week. I found the below color-corrected pic on Reddit.
So that’s the haircut I asked for from my hairstylist in NK Hairworks. The result? Tada!
The ends were blowdried curly. I suspect they won’t look the same way if they were left to my own devices next time. 😅
But for now, it really feels great to have a lighter head of hair! It’s almost like I’m a new woman or something.
I guess that’s why Coco Chanel said her famous quote: “A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.” 💇♀️
I don’t know if that’s always true, but, I do hope it’s a change for good! 😁
