After our team outing at the Sandbox VR Hyper Reality VR Escape Rooms, we had dinner at Tanuki Raw, which are both in Orchard Central. The restaurant serves funky modern Japanese or Asian fusion food. I booked our reservations through Chope.
Here’s what we ordered:
FOIE GRAS TRUFFLE YAKINIKU with FRESH TRUFFLE
Pan-seared foie gras, US black angus short rib, onsen egg, truffle soy, black garlic brown butter over Tanuki Raw’s signature rice

This is my fave dish of the night. Definitely order this! I liked it better than the other foie gras bowl, which we also tried.
FOIE GRAS SCALLOP and UNAGI
Pan-seared foie gras, fresh scallop and grilled unagi glazed with our house-made unagi sauce and shredded tamago served over Tanuki Raw’s signature rice
GOLDEN WHAM! FRIES
Sweet potato fries with salted duck egg, mozarella, gruyere, Tanuki Raw’s spice mix, sour cream
This is one of the tastiest fries I have ever had the pleasure of eating.
TANUKI’S BALLS
Giant lightly fried balls of unagi, snow crab, tamago, mushroom, onions and cabbage held together with a light batter and breaded with fine bread crumbs topped with crispy katsuo boshi, seaweed flakes, oko sauce and seaweed mayonnaise
This kind of tastes like takoyaki.
TRUFFLE BEEF SLIDERS
Trio of sweet potato mini burger buns stuffed with thinly sliced beef striploin seasoned with yakiniku sauce with tomato, fresh greens, umami gruyere & truffle mayo
According to Nic, the salted duck egg charsiew sliders taste better. We should have ordered that.
INSTAGRAM THIS MAKI
Fried yakiniku steak, avocado, tamago & bacon maki, topped with melted cheese, smoked ketchup, umami mayo and onions
This is my next favourite dish. It’s the first time I’ve ever tried a crunchy maki and it totally works!
HOKKAIDO KAISEN DON
Uni, scallop, marinated ikura, snow crab, salmon and shredded tamago served over Tanuki Raw’s signature rice
The uni in this bowl is really good!
This was definitely a great choice for dinner! 😋
